| In
addition to founding Frey & Son Homes, formerly
known as Sanibel Homes, and serving as chairman
of the board for Frey & Son Homes and M.W.
Frey & Son Realty, Inc., William Frey has
initiated several successful business ventures.
A Florida-licensed general contractor, he was
founder and chairman of the board for The Driftwood
Corporation in Ocala, Florida; founder and chairman
of the board for North American Contracting Corporation;
and co-founder and director of Bay Bankshares,
Inc. in Pinellas County, Florida. He was also
co-founder of 1st Home Builders of Central Florida,
LLC, which has been known as America’s First
Home since 2001.
An author in the fields of management and finance,
he served as assistant dean and associate professor
of the University of Massachusetts School of Business
in Amherst as well as associate professor of the
Pennsylvania State University College of Business
in University Park.
In addition to his business activities, he is
actively involved in the public service arena.
His current leadership roles in the Southwest
Florida community include:

Over the years, he has served in leadership roles
in many other community organizations, some of
which include: pilot, Angel Flight; chairman,
The Pirate Playhouse Board of Directors, president
during design and construction, J. Howard Wood
Theatre; founding member of the board, J.N. “Ding”
Darling National Wildlife Refuge; member, Sanibel
Below Market Rate Housing Committee; member, Sanibel
Code Enforcement Committee; president emeritus,
Sanibel-Captiva Chamber of Commerce; chairman
emeritus, Sanibel Community Church; and member
of the board, Sanibel Community Church (including
positions as chairman on the Pastoral Selection
Committee and Articles and Bylaws Revision Committee).
Originally from Philadelphia, Penn., he has been
a resident of Sanibel Island since 1973. His wife,
Doris Frey, was an active executive in all of
the family businesses and generously supported
the Southwest Florida community through her support
and leadership of many pubic service efforts.
The Frey family also includes three sons: Eric
C. Frey, Ph.D.; Roger Frey, M.D.; and Barry E.
Frey, president of Frey & Son Homes.
